Vimeo announced the 20 top videos in each of the nine categories of its first Vimeo Awards at a party in Amsterdam today. The finalists will now be reviewed by the judges for each category. Vimeo will announce the contest winners during the Vimeo Festival + Awards, taking place in New York October 8 and 9.
This is the first time Vimeo, the online video sharing site, has organized the awards, which offers a $25,000 filmmaking grant to the grand prize winner. According to Vimeo, the contest received more than 6,500 video entries from around the world. The judges for the competition include The jury includes filmmakers Morgan Spurlock, Lucy Walker, Ted Hope, desigener Neville Brody and photographer Vincent LaForet.
