Stephen Ferry has received the first-ever Tim Hetherington Grant, it was announced this morning. The grant was established to honor Hetherington, the photographer and filmmaker who was killed in Libya in April, 2011, and is administered by World Press Photo and Human Rights Watch with the support of Hetherington’s parents.

Justin Maxon and Jared Moossy have won the 2016 Visura Multimedia Grant for their film When the spirit moves, which documents life in Chester, Pennsylvania. Maxon and Moossy, both PDN’s 30 photographers in 2009, were awarded a $5,000 cash prize. Mary F. Calvert, Kirsten Luce, Katie Orlinsky, Sergey Ponomarev and Jonathan Torgovnik have each won a $10,000 grant from Getty Images through its annual Grants for Editorial Photography program.
